Planning on some outdoor adventures while on holiday? Our policies provide coverage for a broad range of sports and activities, as well as coverage for sports gear that you may take with you.
What sports and activities are covered?
We offer cover for a wide range of activities including:
- Cruising
- Hiking
- Sailing
- Scuba diving
- Snorkelling
- Snowsports (when you add the Snow sports cover option)
- Surfing

What am I covered for?
Our policies may cover you, up to policy limits, for:
- Overseas Medical Expenses – if you’re injured whilst doing an activity, we may cover emergency medical, hospital and ambulance expenses.
- Medical Evacuation and Repatriation – sometimes adventures can take you far from any medical help. Our policies offer cover if you need to be evacuated to receive medical assistance, or if you’re severely injured and you need to return to Australia. Keep in mind that once you’re home in Australia, we’re not able to cover ongoing medical costs.
- Hospital Compensation – we provide a daily allowance if you’re hospitalised for more than 48 continuous hours.
- Cancellation – if your pre-paid activity or tour is cancelled because of severe weather, natural disaster, strike and other events, we may cover the non-refundable portion of your pre-paid travel arrangements.
- Rental Vehicle Insurance Excess – if you’re going on a road trip, we may cover the costs of the excess on your hired rental vehicle if it is damaged by accident, storm, fire or theft.

Is my sports equipment covered?
Our policies may cover you, up to policy limits, for:
- Luggage and Personal Effects – if your sporting equipment is accidentally lost, stolen or damaged during your trip we may offer to replace or repair it.
- Hiring Replacement of Golf and Surfing Equipment - If your golf or surf equipment is accidentally lost, delayed or damaged during your trip we may pay for the cost of hiring replacement golf or surf equipment.
Are there any activities that aren’t covered?
Whilst we cover a range of sports and activities, there are some activities we can’t cover, including, but not limited to:
- Participation in, or training for, professional sporting activities;
- Hunting, playing polo, racing (except on foot), mountaineering using support ropes, paragliding, rock climbing, abseiling, participating in BASE jumping, running with the bulls, or potholing;
- Travelling in international waters in a private sail vessel;
- Scuba diving, unless you hold an open water diving licence or you were diving under licensed instruction;
- Riding a motorcycle, moped or motor scooter, either as the person in control or as a pillion passenger, with an engine capacity greater than 250cc or, without wearing a helmet, or where the person in control does not have a full motorcycle licence that is valid both in the country of travel and in their country of residence;
- Riding an all-terrain vehicle or quad bike;
- Participating in activities on snow or ice, other than snow sports activities if you have purchased the snow sports cover option.
A few other things you should know
- You must be appropriately licensed to participate in an activity, when required;
- There’s no cover if you’re intoxicated by alcohol or drugs;
- You must wear and use applicable safety gear (eg: a helmet whilst cycling);
- We don’t cover sporting equipment whilst in use;
- We don’t cover snow sports equipment unless you have selected the Snow sports cover option;
- We don’t cover luggage or personal effects that you leave unattended .
